The 2010 Daegu International Marathon will be held on April 11 (Sun) and applications are accepted until March 12
In order to establish a cornerstone for the successful hosting of the IAAF 2011 World Championships, and to increase interest in track and field, the '2010 Daegu international Marathon' will be held at 8am, April 11 (Sun), at the Daegu Stadium.
By increasing interest on track and field through this meet, Daegu intends to improve the health of citizens, establish the city's image as an international sports city, and through this, contribute in procuring momentum for development of track and field, and promote the sport. In addition, it aims at establishing a cornerstone for successfully hosting the IAAF 2011 World Championships.
The venues include the full course and 10km course. Just as the 2009 meet, the race will begin at the Daegu Stadium ticketing booth, and the full course is an IAAF-certified marathon course that passes through the Daegu Stadium - Shinmae Intersection - Machon Intersection - Beomeo Intersection - Kyungpook University Hospital - Jonggak Intersection - Jungang Intersection - Seoseon Intersection - Gyesan 5-way Street - Sangdong Intersection - Suseon Intersection - Doosan 5-way Street - Beomeo Intersection - World Cup 3-way Street - Stadium Course.
In order for all marathon-loving runners to participate in this event, apply through the internet (http://marathon.daegusports.or.kr) or call the Daegu Sports Marathon Office (☎ 053-355-3872?3/FAX 053-355-3901) by March 12. Cost for the full course is 30,000 won and for the 10km course is 20,000 won.
Applications will stop being accepted once the capacity is met (13,000 runners), and all participants of the full course and 10km course will receive a souvenir.
Ultimately, this event will establish an atmosphere of voluntary participation and harmony, in order to raise the level of mature citizens, while improving the city image so that it could be used as momentum for the development of Daegu.
