Designation Criteria and Support for Nationally Designated Records
The designation of records is reviewed by the National Records Management Committee based on the following criteria:
1 The informational value of the records in documenting historical developments is assessed, including politics, the economy, significant individuals, or major events.
2 The records are evaluated for their originality, authenticity, uniqueness, and rarity.
Support Provided
1 Available assistance includes preservation custody in professional storage facilities, and the expert arrangement and cataloging of documents (subject to budget availability).
2 Also, digitization and making copies or replicas of original records is available in order to minimize excessive handling and to improve accessibility and use.

Continuous and Thorough Follow-up Management
Management Measures
1 To prevent records from being neglected or their whereabouts becoming unknown, changes in their management status are checked at least once every year.
2 To prevent physical deterioration, on-site inspections of preservation conditions are conducted at least once every two years, ensuring that the records remain in good condition.
The National Archives of Korea will continue its efforts to discover, preserve, and protect valuable private records for future generations.
