MOIS to send a delegation on e-government cooperation to Laos

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS, Minister Chin Young) sent a government delegation of e-government cooperation, composed of National Tax Service, Korea Forest Service, Ministry of Personnel Management, National Information Society Agency and Korea Agency of Education, Promotion &Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries, to Laos from December 3 through 6.

Laos is expected to offer digital government services to people in many fields. For instance, a Korean company installed the tax information system in Laos recently.

As follow-ups to the New Southern Policy, the delegation co-hosted the e-Government Cooperation Forum with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and had meetings with relevant ministries including the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Home Affairs of Laos to discuss ways to foster cooperation.

The delegation focused on explaining e-government standard framework and online integrated government portal named “Gov. 24” that have been drawing keen attention from countries around the world including Laos. And, they discussed ways to advance and expand the tax system of Laos based on Korea’s various services such as digital tax invoice and cash receipt.

As new areas of cooperation, they also introduced forest disaster integrated management system, government personnel management system and Smart Farm, seeking ways of collaboration.

MOIS will continue to bolster e-government cooperation with ASEAN countries based on the dispatch of e-government delegation to Laos and the MOUs on digital government cooperation with Malaysia and Brunei signed during the 2019 ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit in November.
