The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS, Minister Kim Boo-Kyum) will host a week-long 2018 e-Government Policy Management Course from May 21, inviting 12 policymakers from 10 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America. The 10 participating countries include Cambodia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Uganda, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Belarus, Greece and Honduras.

The e-Government Policy Management Course will provide lectures on Korea’s e-government policies and digital government innovation as well as site visit to relevant institutions including Government Integrated Data Center and Intelligent Transportation System. In addition, participants will share difficulties in introducing e-government and seek development strategies at a seminar. And, they will have meetings with officials in charge and Korean enterprises to foster substantial cooperation.

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have great interest in smart safe city and cyber security, and Azerbaijan has been promoting the establishment of Government Data Center. And, Uganda, Tunisia and Belarus are looking forward to taking customized e-government training course to reinforce cooperation with Korea.

The training course invited public officials from the countries that have demands for cooperation on e-government projects among 47 countries that signed MOUs with the ministry. The on-demands cooperation projects on e-government will help explore follow-up projects with participating countries.

In particular, there will be meeting time separately for Ethiopia to draw up a project plan on the establishment of data integration and management system of the Ministry of Construction to flesh out e-government establishment project in Ethiopia.

Vice Minister Shim Bo-kyun commented that “e-government lies at the heart of enhancing government innovation, administrative efficiency and public services, and there have been continued requests on sharing Korea’s experience on e-government.” “I will actively support participating countries from Asia, Africa and Latin America to accelerate government innovation and people-oriented services through the 2018 e-Government Policy Management Course,” he added.
